Say cheese!

I love cheese. And I love witty writing. Which is why I couldn't help but hearting this article.

My favorite write-ups are, of course, from Bedford Cheese Shop. I've never been to the BK one but I love the one near Gramercy. Obviously, after reading this, sssssomeonnnne is going to be making a stop at Fairway soon.

------

Mastorazio, Madaio The Lindsay Lohan of the cheese world, this pecorino has a tan, leathery exterior that surrounds a delicate yellow paste. With hints of herbs and the aroma of hay, you can almost hear the bleating of Lindsay up in the Italian hills. Pair with nicotine, Red Bull and an alcohol monitor.

Andante Dairy Nocturne Icelandic ponies. Japanese cats on the Internet. Yawning puppies. Toddlers who give each other hugs. Goats climbing all over everything. Pink and green macaroons. Red pandas. Sparkly nail polish. Do you get where I’m going? Cute things. This cheese is so perfect and cute and delicious you just want to marry it. Or buy one and eat it.

Happy 2013

Alright, I admit it. I'm been completely slack and unworthy of even saying I have a blog. But as the new year is in full swing, and I'm back in the pattern of everyday responsibilities, I think its a great time to revisit my intentions for the new year and say Happy New Year to you.

I think this the first year where I didn't resolve to try to make myself  "better". That's not to say, I didn't have anything involving vanity... Um, hello, have you seen me rocking make-up everyday?! The truth is, I'm doing it because it makes me feel happier. A little brighter. And that's the basis of all my New Year's intentions. Play more with make-up (thank you Allie and Jamie for your sponsorship). Write a letter a week (working on my old school penmanship, bare with me). Do more creative things (hello, craft night and museums!). These are all things I want to do more that make my life fuller. So, after a month into our new year, I wish happiness to us in 2013.

Success

Success: To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition, to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Calmness after the Storm

Morning before the storm coverage
Sad Lamp lost its pole.
This was one of the first things I saw when leaving my apt. Apropos.

Riverside park the morning after
My street. Trees down everywhere. So, so sad.
My computer didn't even know what that storm was the other day. Rain? Snow? Snrain?
Snowy block the other night during the Nor'Easter.
Yesterday morning's snowy roofs at work.
Sunset at work last night.

The recent weeks have obviously been erratic. I look back and realize a couple of things. One, I don't think I was fully aware of the magnitude of what was happening. And, two, I am so, so blessed.

In the past two weeks, there has been so many changes in the weather I've experienced. From the hurricane winds, to the sun in CA, to the Nor-Easter snow when I returned, it makes me appreciate that I have no control over what I experience. I can only be there. Watch what is happening. And feel grateful that I'm allowed to see it.

This weekend is suppose to a pretty one. I'm looking forward to volunteering with OccupySandy, brunch with the girls, and a little date night tonight. I hope you have a lovely, lovely weekend whatever your weather may be.
