TGIF like whoa
Happy Friday! Finally. It's been a bit of an exhausting, stressy week. Bold Face Type has been gearing up for our new launch (!!) and prepping for the Stationary Show on May 18th. So, there's been some late nights.
But its the weekend now! Going to do a little thrift store shopping for our trade show booth, as well as plan Kim and I's trip to Ireland.
Attached is a pic from a recent cabin getaway to PA. This picture makes me smile so much.
Speaking of, you can't help but smiling at this. Have a good weekend. xo

5 things I love today
The other day, I came across this article. And thought, um, could I love this more?! Cheese AND art. I could only love it more if there was a soundtrack and it was all Neil Diamond. So today's post, I wanted to list five things I've recently seen that I love. It may be, like, my new thing.
Here they are:
This poem from the subway
Transparent lotus leaves
The patch of green in so much gray
Going up on the roof

Where the Heart Is
New York. Tejas.
On Sat, I spent a couple hours on Hudson River Park, on the West Side. I sat there, enjoyed some sun, people watched, and enjoyed the river view. I was so thankful that New York was my home. That night, I received a phone call from my Btown girls. They were all together celebrating the 2nd (crazy, two years already?!) birthday of Austin, my friend Candice's son. It was the best message, just saying hello and we miss you.
While it made my weekend, I can't lie, I got a little homesick. Which made me think of the many ways we define home... its a word, a location, a descriptor, a conjuration, it really is a feeling that we carry no matter where we go.

Kickin' It
On Wednesday I had my first kickball game with some peeps from work. Unfortunately, we lost 4-8 to a team that I'm pretty sure was drunk. Sobering loss. Pun intended. It was so nice to be in the park, though. Meet new people and just move about. Afterwards we headed to grab a beer and bite. Our after-game bar is the bar in How I Met Your Mother... And, of course, I could not be more excited about this. I ridiculously love that cute little show. Speaking of love, here are some things that made me muy happy this week:
This theater.
This thought.
This dog.
These chairs.
This station.
Basically, everything about this.

Playing it Cool with Cusack
So my friend Renee and I went to go see the John Cusack Times Talk yesterday. Like most things in life, it was completely different than I expected. The moderator was incredibly awkward, and down-right giddy. And John Cusack was so articulate and warm. He was funny and charismatic. Even when the crazies got up to ask him questions, he was cool and charming.
I have to say, I walked out with a bit of a crush. And I'm going to have to disagree Chuck Klosterman's theory. I like John Cusack. You can check out the talk here.

The Happy Secret
a little lunchtime sunshine
Well, first off, Happy National Blah, Blah, Blah Day. It's a real thing. Luckily, today isn't blah though... it's sunny, warm, and I'm wearing a pair of red pants that are anything but muted and sad. However, a couple weeks ago I was super blah and then I found this. How can you not smile at that? Or smirk, at the very least.
So, in the past few weeks with this leg injury I have been going to see the cutest acupuncturist in Manhattan. She's so sweet and also has a lot of good living tools. This morning she sent out an email that led me to this video... The Happy Secret. Ya'll, its so good. I think of myself of as a pretty happy person. However, after watching his video (twice) and then heading to lunch outside, I found myself to be more aware... and thus, a little happier. So I thought I'd share a lil o' that.
Speaking of happiness, my friend Renee and I are going to see John Cusack in the Times Talk series tonight... and I am pret-ty excited. I guessing he's talking about his creepy new movie about Edgar Allan Poe. Here's hoping for Lloyd Dobler.

Bright and Busy, Weekend Recap
What a lovely weekend this weekend was in the NYC! It's was busy and bright. On Friday, my friend Sarah and I went to see Leap of Faith, a new musical that opens up next week. While the play was unintentionally funny and somewhat cringe-worthy, the actors were so talented... and its always fun to see a broadway show. Also, my friend Ben told me about this pre-theater speak-easy, which was so lovely. I can't wait to share it with out of town visitors. Or just to go back and visit the bartender, Paul, who made a delightful Hendrix and tonic.
On Sat, Erin and I headed to Fort Greene. Aka "Stop It, Brooklyn, you're too cute". We had a great brunch at General Greene. Then headed to the flea market, where we didn't get any frames for BFT's tradeshow booth, but did get vintage postcards, beef jerky, some dangling earrings, and of course something with the letter, 'e'. We basically spent the day outdoors, swooning over the cutest houses, babies, and hip couples. Definitely recommend the Flea. I want to go to the Williamsburg one next, to partake in some of their delicious food vendors. Erin and I also stopped by to say hi to our friends, Jamie and Dan, who were having a bev at this cool new little spot.
Sunday was a beautiful park day. I headed over there after church, and it was packed with foreigners, half-naked people, strollers, and kites. Asti, Erin, and I had a great catch-up that keep going, and going, from the park to burgers and beers. At one point, we could not breathe we were laughing so hard. The Fat App will do it, ya.
Here's to a new week ahead... Especially, tomorrow.
Earning My Stripes
I decided since its 88 and sunny, I would cop-a-squat and have lunch outdoors. With gyro in hand, and the perfect-people-watching-spot-in-the-sun, I sat. When I did so, however, the seam of my dress split to my thigh. And I love that dress, too!
Luckily, there's a good clothing store in the office building. So, after holding my dress together for a couple blocks, I'm now the proud owner of a sailor stripe dress that I love as well. But for real, universe?! Come on.

Onward on Wayward
Yesterday my friend, Erin, sent me this thought, "Good things fall apart so better things can fall together." Of course, this rung true. I know this. And also know I that immediately think, "okay, soooo, where are those better things?! I'm ready!"
I have a hard time with the "in-between" time. Unbelievably, even more so than the bad time. So, in attempt to not jump from point a to point b, (Not like it's going to happen like that anyway) I want to see how I get there. I think that's why I'm starting this blog. This is journal of things that bring me joy, small moments in happiness, sadness, letting go, moving forward, and likely, a lot of random thoughts.

Happiness in the form of "Beachwear"
I've always loved the water. I always felt at home. There's never any rush to leave. The pool, as a kid. The ocean, as an adult. I've had a lot of great memories in the water. I think these pieces bring a little of that happy feeling to this spring/summer. Aloha, sunshine, water, patterns and prints!
